Outreach & Education
Round River Farm
,
Round River Renewables LLC
and
Round River Community , and our non-profit
Shalom Seed Sanctuary
, provide educational opportunities for a lot of different groups. We have had
delegations from Nicaragua, toddlers from pre-school, professors from colleges and universities,
youth groups from regional churches. Over the years, we have developed classes, workshops, curriculum and patience as we
host up to 1000 visiters to the farm each year.

Friendly Finland Farmers Fact Sheets developed through on-farm reaserch funded by the Minnesota
Department of Agriculture Energy and Sustainable Agriculture Program. One is about our work to
grow orchard trees within a pasture
Orchards in Pasture
another one caused quite a stir since the research
was on

roping in several TV stations that had to get in on the action.
We have also had the opportunity to
teach and
present
as far away as North
Carolina and officiate
weddings
as far away as New York. However, most our outreach has been local.
We also direct Shalom Seed Sanctuary,
a not-for-profit organization that has put together the
Sustainable Food Systems Curriculum curriculum.
Over the years we have provided 65 classes, reaching about 1820 students in 650 class periods at 14 different schools
taught by 19 different farmers. The curriculum was written to help increase basic food literacy
and give consumers a more sophisticated understanding of the economics of our food system options,
health and food system on rural communities, and the history of our regional food system with a goal:
"to build awareness of sustainble food and farming issues by providing hands-on, passionate,
farmer to student curriculum"
Round River Farm
,
Round River Alternatives
and
Shalom Seed Sanctuary's
outreach has been a wonderful
experience and a great opportunity for learning, including us, and since
we still search for food literacy, healthy, happy and rich sustainable farmers, and World peace
our outreach and education continues...
