Activity Three - Foodolution Game (10 min.) Students will all start as SEEDS. They should crouch down near the floor, and begin to make the sound, "POP SPROUT! POP SPROUT!" When the students encounter each other, they Rock-Scissors-Paper. The loser continues as a seed. The winner becomes a SEEDLING.

Seedlings stand up with their hands straight down at their sides, and go around trying to find other seedlings while squeaking, "DON'T STEP ON ME!" Seedlings can only Rock-Scissors-Paper with other seedlings. Losers return to being SEEDS; winners become CORN NIBLETS.

Niblets go around nibbling with their hands opening and closing saying in a nasal voice, "NIBBLE, NIBBLE, NIBBLE!" Niblets play other niblets. Losers return to SEEDLINGS; winners become CHICKENS.

Chickens fold their arms like short wings, and strut around looking for other chickens while making "BAWK! BAWK!" noises. Chickens only play other chickens. Losers of Rock-Scissors-Paper go back to being Niblets; winners complete the cycle by becoming COMPOST.

Compost makes a long "BBBBBBBBBBTTTTT!" sound, sits down in a pile, and remains quiet until others finish, or the teacher stops the game. The game can go on for some time, so plan to stop it after about 5-7 minutes. This is a FUN activity that allows people to loosen up around each other, and learn a little about a basic food cycle.FOOD SYSTEMS INTRODUCTORY CLASS
